About Allie

I’ve worked in social media for 12 years – starting my career just as social media was starting itself. It’s a unique thing to grow up with an industry. It’s given me an instinct for social strategy that is hard to learn and has afforded me the confidence to make riskier decisions.

In this time, I’ve grown from a singular strategist navigating through a nascent industry to a leader in the space, with a team of over 30 people counting on my instincts and direction.

  1. I’ve seen all sides of social media marketing — I worked client side as a one man marketing band. I’ve worked at smaller agency building up their social media practice just as paid social was taking off. I’ve worked at PR firm understanding how to engage an influencer audience of journalists, press and C-suite. I’ve even worked at a University.
  2. I’ve worked across various industries. I’ve done social strategies for retail brands like Hasbro, baby brands, small businesses, financial services, technology brands, cloud services, telecom, higher ed, airlines, nonprofits and pharma.
  3. I’ve got my hands in all elements of social. I’ve led multi-million dollar influencer campaigns, huge content programs, integrated work, grown organic presences from nothing, built out community management & servicing teams and know paid social inside out and out.

Now I work at Digitas as its lead of Social Strategy, manning up a team of 30+ strategists. With a large team, I’ve discovered the importance of being bold, being a change agent for my company and leading with empathy and transparency.

A little more about me..

i love lucy
Lucille Ball embodied passion and humor. She was a bold, innovative, expressive thought leader. My goal is to follow in her footsteps as a perfectionist who knows the importance of a good laugh. #smile

social
Mojitos are lovely, so is being around people. I’m a self-motivated natural leader who loves communicating, which is probably why I care about social media so much. It is what keeps our fragmented society connected.

current
I see keeping up with the newest trends in digital media as a crucial aspect of my life & career. I read countless industry blogs and follow those at the forefront of the twitbiz. I think these outlets are giving our generation a means to easily stay connected with the world and each other.

the numbers
It’s not about followers or likes. We’ll that’s not all it’s about. It’s about the percentage of engaged users, the meaningful conversations you’ve provided, the relationships you’ve forged, and being true to yourself and your brand.

creator
I love letting my creative juices flow. I’m constantly catching up with my ideas. I can use adobe creative suite, flash, and HTML. These skills help me understand the process demands on a time schedule and also help me to comprehend strategy holistically. I also love to write and discover new ways to take part in or change the conversation.

organized
I am a google doc guru. The only way to keep track of multiple projects is to prepare yourself with the appropriate task coordinator. I keep multiple inboxes, a granular calendar, and thousands of google docs in my back pocket.

orange
Orange is my favorite color. It’s bright and positive just like my approach to work and life in general.

  1. Hi Allie,

    My name is Mark.
I noticed that you tweeted one of my favorite articles “Seven Habits of Optimistic People”.
That is such a great post.

I was hearing from my readers that they wanted something more in depth about getting positive thinking to work (even for pessimists) , so I went ahead and created this post: http://wp.me/p6bNAS-K

If you have time I’d love for you to check it out, and if you like it, it would be awesome if you could share it or maybe leave a comment.
    Thanks!
